Storm - Watch it now on YouTube
Well, the day has finally come - after 2.5 years of work our animated version of Tim Minchin’s Storm is now free to watch on YouTube. It’s been a wonderful, exhilarating, terrifying process, but I’m so pleased that it’s finally done and ready for you all to see.
I hope you enjoy it

Sculpture
Howdy doody folks,
If you’re in London (or thereabouts) I thoroughly recommend that you pop along to “Modern British Sculpture” at the Royal Academy.
It contains many delightful things, such as this;
(Barbara Hepworth: Pelagos).
Please to enjoy ;)

Interactive 3D random caverns - This is fun to play with. Click the front row of shapes to turn them red.
Random Caverns - Changed my earlier pattern generator into some kind of random level builder.
A quick Flash experiment with random patterns + motion. I should be posting a lot more of these.

Smartcurve: flash plugin
Hi folks,
The lovely folks at Adobe have approved SmartCurve, a plugin that I built to simplify drawing curves in flash. I figure you should only need one tool to draw an arc - so here it is.
You can download the plugin here.

Music to strut to.
In honour of this fine gentleman, I have taken 30 mins out of my hectic animation schedule this morning to write an electro-ditty for you to strut to.
Have a nice day :D

Soundcloud
I have compiled the fake video game themes thus far into a set on Soundcloud, which has a better embeddable player, and allows folks to leave comments on the timeline (should anyone wish to tell me how awful I am).
Fake Video Game Soundtracks by DcTurner
Fake video game soundtracks.
Howdy folks.
When I’m not working on Storm (which is basically all the time), I like to compose music for fictional video games. I start with a fake title (provided by Tracy King), then try to create a suitably tacky chiptune to go with it. I’ve been using Audiotool to create my masterpieces, and now, thanks to the wonderful efforts of Joa Ebert, Andre Michelle and the rest of the...

Harmony - HTML5 Sketching app
Hi folks,
I have been messing with Harmony on my lunch break. It’s a great way to pencil-sketch with a mouse. I have it bookmarked so that I can do quick 30 sec life drawings from posemaniacs throughout the day. I love this kind of app, it’s incredibly simple, but the brush strokes are well tuned and have a unique character that would be tough to automate in Photoshop. If you like...

Storm - Sarah
Here’s a sneak peek of the character model for Tim’s wife, Sarah.
This model was fun because of a few important factors;
It had to look like Sarah.
She had to have an identifiable silhouette; a fairly simple head shape.
Along with the hostess character, she needed to be naturally beautiful, yet less striking than Storm.
I’ll be posting a basic character sheet to the Storm...
The Big Libel Gig
Here’s the logo I designed (commissioned by February Marketing) for the upcoming “Big Libel Gig”, a fundraiser for the campaign to reform England’s archaic libel laws.
The show features Dara Ó Briain, Ed Byrne, Robin Ince, Simon Singh, Richard Wiseman. There’s also some guy called “Tim Minchin”, who I have never heard of :(
You might still be able to...

– John Kricfalusi discusses the use of life drawing in animation.
When I visited MOMA, back in 2008, I became a little obsessed with Bridget Riley’s wonderful “Untitled(Fragment1)”. So much so, in fact, that I decided to create this experiment, an interactive version of the painting. You can drag the little green handles around to shift the perspective in order to suit your own tastes. (Try dragging the handles to opposing diagonal corners; it...
3D Video. This is very clever, and makes me really excited about the future of interactive video. Imagine 3D walks on the moon, rollercoaster previews or even a feature film which requires the viewer to act as a camera man\woman.
Very cool stuff.
